My name is Anna Ketola and I live on the foothills of the Swiss Alps. This has been my home for over twenty years.
Almost as many years there has been one Golden Retriever after another in this house. They were all neutered. My neighbour had a Toller – Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever – and even if Basil was a bit faulty in more ways than one, he got me into Tollers. Retriever breeds are wonderful companions but I thought I needed a more challenging dog too. A Basenji was the choice that turned out to be dead right. Except that they weren’t at all as challenging as I was told. Not as challenging as the Golden number two.
As the children grew, I added Ragdoll cat breeding to my hobbies. Alpakas have been yet another interesting breed living on our premises. First Suri studs (belonging to a breeder) and now three Huakaya females.
I have attended countless animal related courses, read extensively and tried showing, breeding, therapy dog, obedience, agility, apporting and Swiss style Begleithunde training.
All this has taught me that there is so much more to learn. After almost 30 years of keeping animals, I had to have a break in dog breeding for several years to work more as a language teacher for adults. I am so privileged to be able to teach all my four languages – Finnish, Swedish, German and English (I specialized as a high school English teacher in Berne).
I’m back in the retriever scene again!
